Join RACT

We are very interested in motivated students interested in joining the RACT group. What you need is good handle of Java, a desired to learn and explore new areas and techniques, and be self-motivated. Agent familiarity would be beneficial, but it is not required. You can propose your own idea or just pick one of our pending tasks to be implemented.

Possible sub-projects

These are some of the pending projects that we have in mind to implement:

1. Develop an interactive GUI for the application where humans and agents can interact using JavaFX.
2. Abstract high-level object recognition (e.g., recognize walls, corridors, doors, mazes, etc).
3. Integrate powerful path planning techniques for agents to navigate the grid smartly such as A*, LPA* or D*-lite.
4. Re-design current system to accommodate long-term goals & intentions.
5. Extend current implementations to teams using JACK Teams.
6. Develop JACK core framework for the Elevators domain (see http://sourceforge.net/projects/elevatorsim/).
7. Develop JADEX or JASON agent system for the Agent Contest, based on our existing JACK-based system.

Observe these projects can be carried out as summer studentships (run every summer by the School of CS and IT) or as a programming project course.
