In the fall of 1998, the IEEE-CS and ACM established a Joint Task Force to
undertake a major review of curriculum guidelines for undergraduate programs
in computing. The resulting guidelines will be published as 'Computing
Curricula 2001'. It has been determined that the curricula will be published
as a multiple volume set, with Volume 1 providing an overview, and
additional volumes describing curricula in a variety of different computing
disciplines. Currently Volume 2 : Computer Science is available in draft
form, and other volumes are in the process of development. Volume 4 will
relate to Software Engineering.
The development of the Software Engineering volume is being managed under
the auspices of the IEEE-CS / ACM SWEEP (Software Engineering Education
Project), and will draw heavily on the Software Engineering Body of
Knowledge (SWEBOK).
In this tutorial we will present details of the Curriculum Project and
SWEBOK, and will consider ways in which participants may assist in the
development of Volume 4.
