Currently, much research and development work is being carried out in the study of the problems related to the design and to the quality assurance of complex applications in Web enivronments. Mainly, these Web sites and applications (WebApps) must include dynamic behaviour and must combine adequately the design and implementation of precise architectural and navigational patterns with a sofisticated computational behaviour. The rapid growth of WebApps has an increasing impact in the scope of the Software Engineering. Some of the aspects that should be taken into account are the following:
- Architectural patterns (interface and navigational patterns)
- A Software Development Process for WebApps specifying clearly activities, models, methods and tools that have to be applied.
- Quality Assurance Strategies for both Web process and products. Metrics definition.
The main aim of the talk will be to present the technologies that are necessary to provide process and software production methods for WebApps. This work has been developed within the framework of WEST, the CYTED, R&D IberoAmerican Project. This project joins the efforts and research results of the iberoamerican participants groups. The presentation will show, from an unified view, the combination of hypermedial application development strategies with conventional strategies. This approach is specially interested in assuring the quality of the process and the software products obtained.
