DSN Mission

Welcome to the DSN (Distributed Systems & Networking) discipline at School of Computer Science, RMIT University.

The DSN discipline has strenght in a few core areas of computer science, including networking (QoS routing, TCP/IP congestion), distributed systems (middlewares, web servers, performance, security, mobillity, reliability), distributed applications (Web/Internet applications, mobile applications) and high performance and graphics (parallel algorithms, grid computing and graphics). Our mission is to pursue high impact research and development in computer science, focusing on distributed, networking and pervasive systems. The impact of current and future technologies in these fields is critical to our information-based society; our objective is to advance the state of the art research and development.

The members of the DSN discipline are highly committed to teaching and student-focus learning. The discipline is responsible for all the courses (of School of Computer Science and Information Technology, RMIT) related to systems, networking and graphics. The members are dedicated to excellence in teaching and the transfer of knowledge to students. This discipline runs a series of fundamental and practical courses dealing with various aspects of networking, distributed systems and graphics.

  • HERE is the list of courses the discipline is responsible for.

The members of this discipline also put in practice their knowledge and expertise. Several important projects are currently funded by local industry (SUN Microsystems) and ARC (Australian Research Council). One of the aims of each member of this discipline is to balance academic excellence and industry relevance. Our members are collaborating with national and international researchers around the world.

  • HERE is the list of research projects of the DSN discipline.
  • Please browse individual web pages of the staff for additional information about the research strenght of individual researcher.

Last, but not least, we would like to inform you about some of our conferences and books:
