Current and future software needs remain focused towards the
development of large and complex Intelligent Networked
Information Systems, covering a wide range of issues. These
include Data and Web Semantics, Distributed Objects, Web
Services, Grid Computing, High-performance and Distributed
Applications, Databases, Workflow, Cooperation,
Interoperability, and Mobility as required for the deployment of
Internet- and Intranet-based systems in organizations and for
e-business. This federated event is unique at providing an
opportunity for both researchers and practitioners to meet and
understand recent developments in ubiquitous computing,
interacting with colleagues in adjoining related fields.
OnTheMove (OTM) in Montpellier in 2006 co-locates four
successful related and complementary conferences: DOA =
infrastructure, ODBASE = meaning of data, CoopIS = application
in organizations, GADA = grid computing, high-performance and
distributed applications. Each conference covers multiple
research vectors, viz. theory (e.g. underlying formalisms),
conceptual (e.g. technical designs and conceptual solutions) and
applications (e.g. case studies and industrial best practices).
All four conferences share the scientific study of the
distributed, conceptual and ubiquitous aspects of modern
computing systems, and share the resulting application-pull
created by the WWW. For DOA'06, the primary emphasis will be on
the distributed objects underlying the required archtitectures;
ODBASE'06 concentrates on the knowledge bases and methods
required for enabling semantical use; CoopIS'06 will report on
the state of the art on interaction of such technology and
methods within an enterprise or networked organization; and for
GADA'06, the focus is on the integration of heterogeneous
computing systems and data resources with the aim of providing a
global computing space.
As they must, these subject areas overlap in interesting ways
and, in fact the organizers specifically welcome submissions in
any of the areas that also emphasize the envisaged impact on or
from relevant issues in the others. To stimulate this
"cross-pollination", we offer a shared program of famous and
representative keynote speakers, as well as a parallel program
consisting of a number of highly topical workshops covering
emerging related areas.
