Abstract:

This IBM team comprises technical, marketing and sales support for developers, independent software vendors and academic institutions. IBM is the world’s largest information technology company, information technology research organization, business and technology services provider and information technology financing company operating in 174 countries globally.

IBM has evolved significantly in recent years and is now a key player in the Software market as well as a defining force in open standards and a key contributor in open source software. This talk will cover the following topics:

About the speaker:

Steve Wilkins is Director, ISV & Developer Relations and Local Ecosystem Initiative, IBM Asia Pacific. He is responsible for the ISV and Developer Relations organisation and oversees the technical enablement of ISVs, IBM Innovation Centres, ISV relationship managers, IBM’s Academic Initiative and scholar program, developer outreach and technical briefings, as well as developerWorks and PartnerWorld programs. He also drives IBM’s Local Ecosystem initiative – an investment focused on growing IBM’s solution sales with Systems Integrators and regional ISVs through increased marketing spending and a dedicated systems and software sales and marketing team.

 

Prior to his current role, Steve was Business Unit Executive, Independent Software Vendors, where he led regional ISV sales, grew IBM Software Group’s ISV network, helped in the formulation of growth and improvement plans and developed an ISV/ Local Ecosystem investment case together with IBM’s Systems and Technology Group, Public Sector, SMB and Global Business Partner organizations.

 

Within IBM, Steve has also held various leadership positions in Teleweb, IBM Software Group for ibm.com, Asia Pacific where he took charge of development and sales for the Teleweb channel, and was also in Distribution Channels Management driving overall software channels strategy, business partner marketing and teleweb channel marketing.

 

Steve joined IBM in September 1995 and undertook consulting for IBM Asia Pacific for hybrid channel marketing strategy and the development of computer hardware, software and services channels.  He also conducted educational sessions and workshops across the Asia Pacific region, in Europe and the US and spent the subsequent few years in channels, channels marketing and education consulting. 

 

Prior to joining IBM, Steve worked in management consulting practices before establishing his own consulting practice for banking, automotive and other clients,  Steve advised on distribution channel, marketing and corporate strategies and his clientele included BP Oil, ICI and IBM, amongst others.

 

Steve graduated with a Bachelors degree in Marketing from Chisholm Institute of Technology, Monash University, Melbourne Australia.
