Abstract:

This presentation will discuss the major issues surrounding the processes for obtaining ethics clearance for conducting human research at RMIT. The presentation will (a) describe the committee structure and function for human research ethics at RMIT, (b) discuss the major issues that confront the committee and (c) provide practical advice for obtaining ethics clearance. Attendees are encouraged to bring along any questions or issues related to human research ethics clearance.

About the speaker:

Dr John Reece is a Senior Lecturer at Division of Psychology (School of Health Sciences), RMIT University. He is currently the Chair for SET Portfolio Human Research Ethics Sub-Committee (Non-Biomedical), and a member of the RMIT Human Research Ethics Committee.  Dr Reece has been a member of the RMIT Human Research Ethics Committee continuously since 1994 and chair of either a Faculty or Portfolio Sub-Committee since the same time.
